Becoming a plastic surgeon was a childhood dream come true for Dr. Gishen, who remembers performing surgery on her teddy bears at just nine years old. Today, she’s an accomplished plastic and craniofacial surgeon specializing in aesthetics, and has been practicing at Squlpt for the past two years. She is also a formally trained sculptor, bringing her keen eye for shapes and proportions to the operating room to masterfully balance the art and science of awake liposuction and body contouring.
Training
Dr. Gishen completed her plastic surgery training at the University of Miami, one of the top body contouring schools in the country. To further her training, she completed a craniofacial fellowship position at the prestigious University of California in Los Angeles.
Awards & achievements
Committed to continued learning, Dr. Gishen has published several book chapters and peer-reviewed articles on craniofacial reconstruction, and has reviewed leading surgical journals including the Journal of Craniofacial Surgery. She was awarded the prestigious Alan Livingstone and Robert Zeppa research awards for her research on the treatment of vascular malformations in infants.
As a trained artist, Dr. Gishen has received countless national awards for her work, particularly for sculpture and photography. She is also a trained anatomic illustrator and has illustrated several plastic surgery textbooks and articles.

When Dr. Gishen isn’t operating, she enjoys sculpting, painting, gardening and traveling. One of her biggest passions is traveling with mission groups to perform cleft and lip palate repairs in under-privileged countries.
