Squlpt BBL Pillow

If you’re planning on having BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift) surgery in the near future, you may be wondering how it will affect your sleep. This is one of the most common concerns we hear from our patients.

Following a BBL, sleeping comfortably can be a challenge. This is because you’ll need to avoid sleeping on your back and putting pressure on the newly enhanced area for at least the first month to avoid potential complications and to ensure optimal results.

In this article, we’ll be sharing expert tips to help you get the rest you need and lasting results you’ll love.

What is a BBL?

The Brazilian Butt Lift is a popular cosmetic procedure designed to give you a fuller, more voluptuous booty, without the use of butt implants

At Squlpt, we’ve developed two BBL treatment options depending on your body goals: SoftSqulpt™ Petite BBL™, designed for women looking to enhance and accentuate the shape of their bottom (beyond simply making it bigger or wider) and SoftSqulpt XL BBL®, where we augment and expand the bottom beyond its current size.

No matter which BBL procedure you choose, getting enough sleep is an essential part of your healing journey.

Why proper sleep is crucial after a BBL

With any surgical procedure, getting enough sleep is crucial for a fast and successful recovery. Here’s why sleep is especially important following a BBL treatment:

1. Protecting the treatment area

The newly transferred fat cells are fragile and need time to settle into the surrounding tissues. Sleeping directly on the buttocks can damage these new cells, leading to uneven or undesirable results.

2. Promoting healthy blood flow

Sleeping in the proper position promotes healthy blood flow to the treatment area, which aids in healing and helps reduce swelling.

3. Preventing complications

Be sure to follow your surgeon’s personalized advice on how to sleep after your BBL to minimize the risk of complications such as a hematoma or infection.

4. Enhancing comfort

As with any procedure, recovery from a BBL can be uncomfortable, especially in the first few weeks. Bruising and tenderness can make it difficult to sleep. Finding a position that doesn’t put any added pressure on the area can really help.

5. Supporting overall recovery

Sleeping in the proper position post-BBL supports the overall healing process and sets you up for a faster recovery.

Best sleeping positions after a BBL

For the first four weeks (depending on how you’re healing), sleeping on your side or stomach is the only option. You must take every precaution to avoid rolling over onto your back and buttocks in the middle of the night, as this can compromise the newly transferred fat cells before they’ve had a chance to settle in and become permanent.

It’s normal to experience a period of adjustment for the first few nights while you’re getting used to sleeping this way, especially if you’re a back sleeper. So it may take a little effort to find a sleeping position that works well for you. Here are some ways to lay after your BBL:

1. Sleeping on your stomach

If liposuction was performed on your stomach, you won’t be able to sleep on your stomach until it’s healed. Otherwise, we recommend sleeping on your stomach as long as it’s comfortable for you.

2. Sleeping on your side

You may find it more comfortable to sleep on your side after a BBL, especially if you’re naturally a side sleeper. Again, this will depend on where you had the fat removed from and transferred to. If the fat was injected into your hips, sleeping on your side may compromise the results. if you had fat removed from this area, you may feel sore sleeping in this position.

3. BBL pillow for sleeping

One common bbl sleeping hack is using strategically placed pillows during your recovery journey to prevent you from rolling over in the middle of the night.

If you’ve had a fat transfer to the buttocks and/or hip dips, we advise that you sleep on your stomach throughout the recovery period (around four weeks depending on how you’re healing) and do not use a pillow to sleep. But it’s important to note that we customize treatment and recovery plans for each patient, so be sure to follow the specific advice of your surgeon.

During your recovery journey, one helpful hack to ensure proper healing is strategically placing pillows to prevent you from rolling over during sleep. However, if you’ve had a fat transfer to the buttocks and/or hip dips, we strongly advise sleeping on your stomach throughout the recovery period (typically around four weeks, depending on your healing). Avoid using a pillow for sleeping, as this can interfere with your results. Each patient’s treatment and recovery plan is personalized, so be sure to follow your surgeon’s specific advice.

While pillows are not recommended for sleeping, Squlpt does offer a BBL pillow designed for sitting, which helps protect your results during recovery. You can learn more about how to use the BBL pillow for sitting in these videos:

How long before you can sleep normally post-BBL

Since everyone recovers at their own pace, the timeline is different for every patient. But the four-week mark is when most people feel comfortable getting back to their regular routine and sleeping habits.

By this point, most of the swelling and soreness will be gone, and the majority of fat from your fat transfer procedure will have been absorbed. So, you won’t need to sleep exclusively on your stomach and/or side anymore and you can sleep on your back without a BBL pillow.

Make sure to consult with your surgeon if you experience any discomfort or irritation when sleeping with a BBL.
